Die Ludwig Foundation of Havana und der D21 Kunstraum haben 2018 erst­ma­lig ein Künstleraustauschprogramm zwi­schen Havanna und Leipzig ins Leben geru­fen. Ziel war es, jähr­lich jeweils zwei Künstler:innen aus Havanna und Leipzig die Möglichkeit einer zwei­mo­na­ti­gen Residenz zu eröff­nen, die den Künstler:innen ein orts­be­zo­ge­nes, künst­le­ri­sches Arbeiten ermöglicht.

Von August bis Anfang Oktober 2018 waren die bei­den kuba­ni­schen Künstler Aaron R. Moreno und Milton Raggi Vinueza die ers­ten Künstler, die im Rahmen die­ses Austauschprogramms in Leipzig tund sich künst­le­risch mit den Veränderungsprozessen Leipzigs im Vergleich zu ihrer Heimatstadt Havanna aus­ein­an­der­setz­ten. Beide Künstler arbei­ten als Solokünstler wie auch als Künstlergruppe vor allem in den Bereichen Media Art.

Im Rahmen des all­jähr­lich statt­fin­den­den Lindenow-Festivals, bei dem Kunsträume und ‑ini­ta­ti­ven im Leipziger Westen für ein Wochenende das Stadtviertel in eine Kunstmeile ver­wan­deln, zeig­ten Randy Moreno und Milton Raggi mit Nami Salim (zusam­men bil­den sie die Künstlergruppe Axis Visual Lab) in der Ausstellung A pla­ne boun­ded by a cir­cle ver­schie­de­ne Arbeiten, die in Leipzig ent­stan­den sind. Die Glasfabrik in Leutzsch war hier­für der per­fek­te Ort, um ihre Arbeit aus Licht, Sound und Bewegung zu prä­sen­tie­ren. An drei Abenden ver­wan­del­ten sie eine alte Fabrikanlage in eine Licht- und Soundinstallation, die die Stellen der Veränderungen thematisiert.

 

The Ludwig Foundation of Havana and the D21 Kunstraum laun­ched an artist exch­an­ge pro­gram bet­ween Havana and Leipzig for the first time in 2018. The goal is to open two artists from Havana and Leipzig each year the pos­si­bi­li­ty of a two-month resi­dence, which allows the artists a local, artis­tic work. From August to the begin­ning of October 2018, the two Cuban artists Aaron R. Moreno and Milton Raggi are the first artists to live in Leipzig as part of this exch­an­ge pro­gram. Both artists work as a solo artist as well as an artist group, espe­ci­al­ly in the field of Media Art

In the con­text of the annu­al Lindenow Festival, during which art spaces and initia­ti­ves in the West of Leipzig turn the dis­trict into an art mile for a weekend, they show with Nami Salim (tog­e­ther they form the artist group Axis Visual Lab) in the exhi­bi­ti­on A pla­ne boun­ded by a cir­cle various works that were crea­ted in Leipzig. The Glasfabrik in Leutzsch was the per­fect place to pre­sent their work of light, sound and move­ment. On three evenings, they trans­for­med an old fac­to­ry into a light and sound instal­la­ti­on that addres­ses the chan­ging scene.

The resi­den­cy pro­gram con­ti­nues in spring 2019 with a stay by Diego Vivanco to Havana.
